Meridith McArthur

President

Mid-State Supply

Location: Wautoma, WI

Industry: Wholesale Distribution

In 2002, while pregnant and building her home, Meridith McArthur came into Mid-State Supply to purchase plumbing supplies. Struck by the kind and respectful approach of the employees, she asked if they were hiring. McArthur began her career as a part-time office administrator, advancing through the ranks to her present-day role as president, where she has full control of the day-to day operations.

“Meridith is a female in a male-dominated industry, and she has worked her way up, constantly having to prove herself,” said her team. “But, with leaders like Meridith, the industry is changing and adapting, and Meridith has steadfastly played a role in this progression.”

Mid-State Supply is a whole distributor of plumbing, heating, electrical supplies and fine cabinetry serving the professional contractor and tradesman since 1948 with branch locations in Wautoma, De Pere, Fond du Lac and Appleton.

During her tenure as president, Mid-State Supply has experienced sales growth of over 100 percent with 2022 marking the most profitable year in the company’s history. This was quite a feat due to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic that disrupted supply chains. “Meridith’s leadership was key in pointing the company in the right direction, getting all of their employees on board and clearly communicating in an open and honest fashion,” said her staff.

McArthur said that demonstrating a clear vision is crucial. “Setting strategic goals and inspiring my team to achieve them is essential,” she said. “My leadership should promote diversity and inclusivity, highlighting the importance of gender equality in the workplace.”

Her efforts have extended to supporting the community. McArthur serves as a board member of the American Supply Association’s Woman in Industry and has been placed on various boards and committees, gaining attention on a more regional and national level.

The plumbing and construction industry is continually evolving with new technologies and environmental regulations. “It prompts me to stay ahead of the curve by embracing innovation, implementing cutting-edge processes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization,” said McArthur.

Adaptability is also a key part of leading successfully, said McArthur. “It enables me to adjust to new circumstances, learn from challenges and find innovation solutions,” she said. “In both personal and professional settings, I feel that adaptability helps one navigate uncertainty, embrace opportunities and remain resilient in the face of adversity.”

For remaining resilient, making a name for herself in the industry and promoting a positive company culture, McArthur has been named a titan.
