As the president of a manufacturing company that has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last three years, Matthew Taub said showing resiliency as a leader has been crucial. “Every day, I try to lead out front and by example,” he said. “I see my role as a strategist and mentor, and I have an incredible love for this business and I hope that passion shows through every day.”
Taub does this by spending a great deal of time at each location of Blachford Acoustics Group, engaging with employees at all levels of the business. “Their successes and enthusiasm are contagious for me and I work to spread it across the organization,” he said. “I cannot think of a single more effective way to reignite my passion for the business than to spend time with the employees and our customers.”
Blachford Acoustics Group specializes in custom-engineered noise, vibration and thermal reduction solutions in engine compartments and cab interiors using rubber, plastic and fiber molding technologies. In the last three years, the company has added two additional businesses, brought all five locations under one corporate umbrella, rebuilt the executive team and dramatically increased profitability.
“If there’s one thing I could say about the last year, it’s that changing market conditions have become the norm,” said Taub. “With a need to constantly address persistent supply chain and labor issues, the post-COVID manufacturing environment is filled with snares and obstacles.”
That’s why Taub has led his team to create systems and processes to overcome challenges and prepare for new ones as they arise. “Being both proactive and reactive has allowed us to create business growth opportunities in an incredibly uncertain marketplace and gave us the power to generate manufacturing efficiencies while minimizing production stoppages and delays,” he said.
As a second-year Titan, Taub said it was through his connections at Titan that he was able to connect his team with the right people in Wisconsin to develop new hiring techniques. “Because of these efforts, we have a more profitable and sustainable business,” he said. “In a year of uncertainty, our efforts have yielded certain success for Blachford Acoustics Group.”
Taub is no stranger to success. The acquisition of Milcut Incorporated was identified and led by Taub and he increased the pay and benefits for all acquired employees, improved healthcare coverage, offered additional benefits and reduced health insurance costs without a reduction in force.
“I spend most of my day counseling employees, helping them develop solutions and empowering them to do the job,” said Taub. For his commitment to leading by example while empowering others, Taub has been named a Titan 100 for the second time.
