Approaching its 90th Anniversary, the biggest goal is to maintain the operation of modernizing March Electronics with Jim Banovich serving as the CEO. His optimistic outlook is what drives him to make this modernization happen. “I’ve always felt as a leader your teams need to see the vision, passion, drive and ‘why’ to achieve success,” said Banovich. “This can’t be done if you’re negative and not optimistic because your teams feed off you. They sense and feel your passion.”
Banovich said he wants the Marsh family to be positive and optimistic about themselves, their cohorts, Marsh’s mission, the customers, suppliers, service support partners and their families.
Since 1935, Marsh Electronics has delivered high-quality products, services, and value to customers distributing a wide range of electronic components and solutions throughout the north-central United States. The company has embarked on a journey of revenue, capabilities, employee development, marketing and operational growth over the past three years with a 30 percent increases in sales. “We’ve done this with organic growth and a focus on growing our ‘share’ within our existing customer base,” said Banovich.
The journey has included growth in revenue, capabilities, employee development, marketing and operations and will continue as the quest to modernize the company continues, said Banovich. This journey has included making investments in new equipment to the main warehouse in Milwaukee, adding a full-time marketing manager and upgrading the sales process.
As a second-year Titan 100, Banovich credits the program as filling his life with many firsts. “Getting to know other titans and learning about the various organizations that make our state and country great has had a lasting impact,” he said. “We have been creating meaningful connections and these connections have had a huge impact on Marsh’s ability to support and give back to the community that we have made a home in since 1935.”
The opportunity has also strengthened the employee development efforts of the company. “Marsh truly values its employees,” said Banovich. “We want to give them the opportunity to develop professionally equally to how Marsh has been changing and growing.”
This has prompted more opportunities for senior staff members and younger staff in multiple departments to get involved in various training, programs, off-site visits and other avenues to advance development. “We want our people to be confidence in what they are doing no matter what changes may come,” said Banovich.
As for his greatest leadership lesson, Banovich said it’s all about showing gratitude to your employees. “We invest in them because they make us who we are,” he said.
For his ability to embrace change and offering an optimistic dose of gratitude into his leadership style, Banovich has been named a second-year titan.
