As the co-founder and CEO of Spaulding Medical, Amanda Baltz said that reigniting her passion for healthcare technology comes naturally. “I encounter many people who share their personal stories of being a cardiac patient,” she said. “Consistently connecting with patients and the providers who are on the front line working to save lives, reminds me that our part of providing technology to enable better care and outcomes is crucial.”
Spaulding Medical is part of the medical device industry with a mission to provide hospital quality care that is affordable and accessible to all people. Baltz co-founded Spaulding Clinical Research in 2007 and oversaw the first-generation release of the Spaulding ECG device and software for use in clinical trials.
Under her leadership, the company has successfully launched a proprietary medical cardiac device and software management system, clearing barriers to entry and gaining market acceptance. Since initial FDA clearance in 2015, the company has grown to seven digits in revenue and is currently planning their next product launch for late 2023.
“Seeing the disparities across cardiac healthcare, both in quality and accessibility, has only continued to fuel Amanda’s passion to continue to expand the Spaulding Medical brand and make hospital quality healthcare accessible to every person,” said her staff.
Described as a fearless leader, Baltz led Spauling Medical through the global pandemic that severely delayed a next generation launch due to supply chain issues and staffing challenges. “While those challenges may have been enough to knock down some of the strongest leaders, Amanda continued to drive the development of medically cleared hardware and software while always keeping the company’s mission top of mind,” said her staff.
Moving forward, Baltz said she sees the future of work at Spaulding Medical focused on supporting individuals’ strengths while creating optimal work environments. “We are also investing in our founding team to grow personally and professionally with the company’s growth,” she said. “We see this is as a unique opportunity to equip our workforce with new skills and talents in a rapid pace with a challenging and rewarding environment.”
The environment at Spaulding Medical has been one that focuses on family. “I have had the unique opportunity to build this business with my father,” said Baltz. “He has brilliant product vision and I love being a co-pilot using my strengths to help us bring the design to market and commercial use.”
