Lindsey H Petrini

Chief Executive Officer

Piedmont Newton Hospital

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Founded: 1905

Industry: Healthcare

Lindsey Petrini has spent her career in healthcare. She first worked in public relations and community relations for two hospitals in her native Arkansas — positions that drew on her dual degrees in communication and journalism— before Petrini moved to Atlanta to join North Fulton Regional Hospital in 2006.

Using her initial role as a physician liaison at North Fulton Hospital as a launching pad, Petrini has been steadily promoted during her tenure, first moving from marketing manager to marketing director, then from chief business development officer to chief operating officer. Petrini also served as interim president in 2016 during the hospital’s ownership transition to Wellstar.

As COO, Petrini oversees 550 employees across the hospital’s nursing, ancillary and support departments. She has executed a $150 million capital investment plan at the facility, reinvesting in infrastructure and growing multiple service lines — including neurology, cardiology, advanced stroke care services, oncology and surgery.

“As a business leader, Lindsey is known for pushing her organization to be its best. Within an industry that is heavily defined by education and certifications, she has invested numerous hours mentoring leaders to grow outside their primary area of practice to think differently about career advancement,” Petrini’s team said.

Petrini is proud of the dedicated team she has helped to build at the hospital — and of what they’ve been able to achieve together. “I hire really good people and trust them to do their job,” she said. “Extending trust is so important.”

In the next five years, Petrini will help oversee the hospital’s plans to open a new cancer care center, advance its surgery department, increase bed size and build advanced service lines to treat movement disorders and other specialized conditions.

“Our vision is to enhance the health and wellbeing of every patient we serve,” Petrini said. Under Petrini’s leadership, Wellstar North Fulton Hospital has received numerous awards and accreditations, including the 2022 Georgia Oglethorpe Award, comprehensive stroke certification, verification as a Level II Trauma Center and accreditations in wound care and Rehabilitation. While helping Wellstar North Fulton Hospital advance and grow, Petrini has also worked diligently to balance her career with her life outside of work.

“Deciding to prioritize family and allowing my career to unfold around them versus the other way
around has at times felt risky, but it is worth it,” she said.

Petrini is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Georgia. Outside of her work, she enjoys being a mom, attending concerts and taking road trips.

Did you know?

Not sure if it is fun, but I became a mother for the first time at age 42. Getting to experience this late in life has been wildly fun. Before that time, my fun facts were my love of concerts, eating out and taking road trips.
