Adwait Joshi says there’s a need for more understanding, perhaps a gentler approach, from today’s business leaders.
“Today’s leaders need compassion,” he said. “Most leaders lead with fear and authority. A leader must be approachable, and coach their team. Leaders need to be like gurus who guide folks through easy and difficult times.”
Joshi is the chief seer at DataSeers, an Atlanta-based fintech firm that helps other fintech companies and banks solve complex operational issues related to digital onboarding, reconciliation, compliance, fraud and business insights.
The company was launched in a home basement in Duluth, Georgia, in 2017. In this setting, Joshi had a mission to create a simple solution for complex problems, and he had the credentials and experience to make it happen. DataSeers hired its first employee in 2017 and moved to Tech Alpharetta, a local coworking space dedicated to helping the local tech community grow and excel.
By 2018, DataSeers landed its first client and hired seven more people, and by the end of the year DataSeers graduated from the tech incubator. The company relocated to Windward Plaza and continued to implement new employees and users for its FinanSeer system. That same year, the company expanded internationally by opening its office in Mumbai, India.
In 2020, the company moved to a bigger office to allow for additional growth. DataSeers is now in its fifth office, accommodating 80 employees. The U.S. presence is complemented by a second office housing more than 40 developers in Mumbai.
“I did not want to be a number in a company doing 8 to 5,” Joshi said. “I wanted to make a difference, and I wanted to create future leaders. This is often a difficult path since you are in uncharted territory. You always have to find creative ways to navigate the obstacles and teach others on the way. Sometimes you end up sacrificing personal goals and achievements for the pursuit of something much larger.”
Joshi received the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce Community Award for his dedication to helping others. He is also a board member of Tech Alpharetta, the business incubator where the DataSeers story began. Joshi was also one of the ETA 40 Under 40 in 2020.
With three-year revenue growth of 427%, DataSeers ranked No. 1,503 among America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies in 2022 according to Inc magazine. The company was recently selected in the AIFinTech100 for 2022. DataSeers received a 2021 Atlanta Business Chronicle Pacesetter Award as one of the 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in Atlanta. The Technology Association of Georgia recognized DataSeers as one of its Top 40 Technology Companies three years in a row.
