Since receiving the honor of being a Titan 100, reflecting on the past year brings to mind several milestones for Martha Picciao-Mazor and her team at Whiz Kidz Preschools. The organization has expanded, acquiring its sixth location in central Phoenix and hiring a director of operations.
“These accomplishments go beyond operational metrics; it signifies a shift in our company culture and mindset,” said Picciao-Mazor. “It demonstrates a commitment to responsible business practices, and our efforts have sparked enthusiasm and a sense of pride among our employees, who are now more engaged than ever knowing that their daily actions contribute toward a larger, meaningful impact.”
Whiz Kidz Preschool prepares each child through their development using its school readiness curriculum. The organization has a mission to help children reach new milestones through authentic learning, play experiences and the arts.
As a business owner and visionary, Picciao-Mazor said her superpower lies in her ability to seamlessly integrate growth, leadership development, scaling, service excellence and educational outcomes into a cohesive strategy that propels the organization forward. Weaving these elements together is the holistic approach that sets Whiz Kidz Preschools apart, she said.
“Providing exceptional service is at the heart of everything we do, and I have an unwavering commitment to understanding and exceeding our clients’ needs while creating learning opportunities for children to meet developmental milestones,” said Picciao-Mazor. “Ensuring outstanding educational outcomes is paramount.”
Having a clear vision is key to successful leadership, said Picciao-Mazor. “Successful leaders have a clear vision of where they want to take their business and can effectively communicate this vision to their team,” she said. “They inspire and motivate others to work toward common goals and are able to articulate a roadmap for achieving long-term success.”
Leaders must also be able to adapt. “In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing business environment, leaders must be able to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities,” said Picciao-Mazor. “This means being open to change, continuously learning and being flexible in their approach.”
Fostering an environment that cultivates the next generation of titans is a responsibility that Picciao-Mazor takes seriously. As a mentor for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Accelerator Program, she works directly with promising entrepreneurs who are past the startup phase and are striving to break the $1 million revenue mark. “My role involves group sessions providing a real-world perspective on navigating business challenges,” she said. “The objective is to not only accelerate their growth but also to instill a robust entrepreneurial mindset that can withstand the pressure of scaling a business.”
