According to a recent AAA survey, two out of three drivers don’t trust automotive repair shops in general. LaVon Jackson Maccanico is driven to change that as the owner and president of Right Way Automotive. “As a women business owner, in a male-dominated industry, I will take pride in knowing how my team cares for our customers,” said Jackson Maccanico.
Right Way Automotive’s mission is to provide excellent car care services by building lasting relationships by doing what’s right. The company takes pride in its efficiency, reliability, and ability to provide affordable car care while striving for 100% satisfaction.
In the past year since she was named a Titan 100, Jackson Maccanico said her greatest leadership lesson learned is to remember her goals for owning an automotive repair center. “I am in this industry to be the difference daily for every customer, but especially for women, seniors and veterans because they are the ones who are often skeptical,” she said. “Most of our customers are people who typically do not trust automotive repair centers, and my goal and my team’s goal is to restore our customers’ faith in repair in the automotive repair industry by providing transparency in the process.”
Jackson Maccanico said she has also learned that she needs to serve all customers internally and externally with an attitude of gratitude. “I continually learn each day that integrity is a must when no one is watching or when everybody is watching,” she said.
Mentoring others has helped Jackson Maccanico to showcase integrity and influence others. She has partnered with Dress for Success Phoenix to support women looking to gather knowledge about their vehicles. She also sponsored several workshops with actual demonstrations on routine maintenance for women’s groups.
As a philanthropist, Jackson Maccanico has helped to bring awareness to the community about hunger, leading the effort to unite all Meineke owners in the Phoenix Basin to help raise money for the United Food Bank Summer of a Million Meals. The success led Jackson Maccanico to open her facility to host Operation Home Front Meals on Wheels for recently separated military families having a hard time.
As a leader, Jackson Maccanico believes that the most important attributes include integrity, vision, resilience and confidence. “Integrity is the cornerstone of trust in leadership and a good leader must possess unwavering integrity to inspire confidence in others,” she said.
