The vision for Black on the Job was born from the personal experiences of Cyntoni Miller. Growing up, Miller witnessed the racial and economic disparities that hindered the Black community’s progress. Her journey led her to Howard University, where she encountered a thriving Black community, rich in education and resources. This pivotal experience inspired the Titan 100 Hall of Fame nominee to create a platform that would provide similar opportunities for Black professionals worldwide.

Black on the Job is a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to empowering black professionals. The organization has a mission to provide accessible career development services and aims to lift Black individuals to meet and exceed middle-class status, addressing the economic disparities that have long affected Black communities.

Since its inception, the firm has successfully provided services to over 250,000 Black professionals, averaging a salary increase of $35,000 within 90 days of receiving services. One of Miller’s proudest accomplishments over the past two years has been leading Black on the Job to secure over $150 million in salary increases for clients.

“The journey to this accomplishment began with a comprehensive analysis of the job market and the specific barriers faced by our community,” said Miller. “Understanding these challenges allowed us to tailor our resources and workshops to address the unique needs of our audience.”

Miller was also instrumental in expanding the network of industry professionals to provide mentorship, developed partnerships with organizations to increase reach, and invested heavily in creating content that resonated with and empowered the firm’s users.

“From this experience, I learned the power of a clear vision and the importance of building a team that shares that vision,” said Miller. “I was reminded that significant achievements require patience, dedication and the ability to trust others to carry forward your mission. These accomplishments have fueled my passion for continued advocacy for economic empowerment.”

According to Miller, the legacy she aims to cultivate is deeply rooted in empowerment, visibility and transformative impact. “My vision extends beyond mere commercial success to firmly establish our company as a household name synonymous with Black career empowerment and a beacon for positive change,” she said. “I hope to be remembered for creating a platform that not only uplifts individuals but also fosters a sense of community, resilience and collective progress.”

Miller’s advice to the next generation of titans is grounded in principles that transcend conventional business wisdom. “Leadership in the future will demand more than just strategic acumen and innovation; it will require a deep commitment to ethical practices, inclusivity and a vision that seeks to uplift not just the individual but entire communities,” she said.
