Originally from the panhandle of Nebraska, Jon Taylor quickly established himself as a top corporate lawyer after graduating from Duke Law School. After practicing at one of the nation’s top corporate law firms in California, Taylor joined Koenig, Oelsner, Taylor, Schoenfeld & Gaddis PC as a partner when the firm was in its infancy. In the last 19 years, he has ascended the ranks to become a named partner and now managing partner.
Koenig, Oelsner, Taylor, Schoenfeld & Gaddis PC is a results-focused corporate and transactional law firm with a team of experienced lawyers and a practical, efficient, business-focused approach. Headquartered in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, the firm specializes in serving many industries, including software and SaaS, healthcare and life sciences, food, beverage and consumer goods, professional services, energy, retail and manufacturing, ecommerce, and internet.
“Jon has been critical to growing the firm from five attorneys to 35 attorneys and more than 40 employees in total while expanding the firm to two headquarters in Denver and Boulder and establishing a well-respected regional and national corporate transactional law practice,” said his colleagues. “He has helped steer the firm through the post-pandemic phase and uncertain economic times, recently expanded the firm’s practice areas to add data privacy and security and led the firm’s purchase and renovation of a new headquarters in the Golden Triangle neighborhood of Denver.”
Under Taylor’s leadership, the unique culture of the company has earned the firm recognition on the Denver Business Journal’s Best Places to Work list. In addition, he has been instrumental in increasing annual revenue to $20 million in 2023.
Taylor specializes in corporate and securities law with extensive experience in emerging company issues, venture capital, M&A and private equity. “Jon is passionate about working with entrepreneurs on everything from formation through multiple rounds of financing and eventually ending with an exit transaction,” said his colleagues.
He also regularly gives back to Colorado’s business and entrepreneurial community by serving as a transactional law coach at the University of Colorado Law School.
As a leader, Taylor said that empathy is one of the most important attributes successful leaders possess. “Successful leaders need to be able to connect with their employees, their team, their clients, and peers,” he said. “Being empathetic and able to put yourself in someone’s shoes allows you to identify with them as individuals, recognize what their problems are, and help them solve them.”
