Shaun Duvall had worked in the IT staffing industry for eight years when he was transitioning to a director role. However, months of pausing and reflecting led him to realize his path was ready to make a dramatic turn.
“I knew after taking the time to work through my personal ‘why’ that I wanted to build a business and focus all efforts on how we can first serve others,” said Duvall. “I wanted to build a company that was completely focused on being people-centric, where people can bring their whole selves each day to serve a cause bigger than themselves.”
He then began the process of building duvari. As an IT staffing company, duvari focuses inward on the internal team to build holistic team members who can then turn around to serve others using their unique talents. The company’s desire is to look at the best interest of the candidates and clients using foundational pillars to listen, connect and guide.
“When I started duvari, I made a choice to not follow the industry path that could have most likely led to higher revenue,” said Duvall. “Revenue and profitability are imperative and understanding your financials is a must, but I found that focusing on understanding my team members and learning how to best serve them first has created a unique culture that I believe will outperform others in my industry with profitability as their first focus.”
The firm build systems, policies and procedures to focus on building each team member using their unique talents so they can use their diversified gifts in a team setting that can, over time, outperform those focused on only hitting metrics for short-term metrics sake.
Duvall’s leadership relies heavily on his ability to quickly establish trust. “This comes naturally because I genuinely enjoy listening and learning from every team member,” he said. “I prefer getting to the core of situations rather than staying on the surface and this approach has helped me connect more deeply and assist a wider range of people.”
As a people person, outside of work, Duvall has been committed to serving the community. He has spent time on the Missouri and Kansas Search and Staffing Association board building new effective approaches to training staffing teams and organizations. He has also served as a board member of Men of Code, a nonprofit program designed to develop minority males with coding skills. The firm has also partnered with Unbound, which not only helps give to impoverished children but also helps develop the company’s team members to build relationships and embrace the art of giving.
For what he has given to his staff, clients and the industry, Duvall has been named a titan.
