Industry: Behavioral Healthcare

Dr. Anthony DiFabio has dedicated his career to improving behavioral healthcare and community- based social services. As the president and chief executive officer of Acenda Integrate Health, he has built an organization that strives to help individuals, families and communities achieve their potential.

Under DiFabio’s leadership, Acenda was formed through the merger of four organizations: Robins’ Nest, NewPoint Behavioral Health, Cape Counseling Services and Daytop. His tenure as chief executive officer of Robins’ Nest was marked by growth and a commitment to diversifying care delivery to address a broader range of community needs. Acenda now offers more than 120 programs that support individuals dealing with mental health, substance use, poverty, homelessness and other complex social issues.

Acenda Integrate Health is dedicated to providing excellent prevention, treatment and wellness services to ensure holistic care for individuals, families and communities. The organization’s vision for the next five years is centered around expanding its integrated care model, focusing on world health and equality. The company aims to provide acute care services in substance abuse and child protection, emphasizing the importance of prevention and creating a behavioral health safety net.

“For someone like me who has always been an incredibly hard worker, and someone who has been fortunate enough to have developed expertise within my field, the biggest risk I took was being vulnerable,” DiFabio said. “What is comfortable for me is working hard and applying the intellectual vigor and training that I have to be successful. Ultimately, what I found that was going to allow me and our organization to reach our highest potential was for me to be vulnerable. To look and lean onto others, share my passion and my purpose and my ‘why’ with our team in hopes that it might inspire and help them to understand and align with the vision I have as a leader and as an executive.”

DiFabio serves on several boards, including the Children’s Home Society of America, New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies, and the New Jersey Alliance for Children, Youth and Families. He is an active member of national organizations such as Mental Health Corporations of America, OPEN MINDS and the Child Welfare League of America.

DiFabio has received numerous awards, including the Angel of the Year Award from the South Jersey Young Professionals Association. He holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola College of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Farleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. DiFabio and his family all love the theatre. This is one of their favorite things to do together, whether it be at a local playhouse, off-Broadway, or on Broadway, no theater is too big or too small. When his family travels, they always tries to find a local theatre production to see. While at Vanderbilt University, he took history of modern dance, renaissance art, Dante’s divine comedy, and more. His favorite show was one at a small theater in Nashville called Franklin Theater. Seeing the expressions on his daughters’ faces during the show was something he will never forget. Now, all of his kids are involved in theatre in some way.
