Michael Zeto caught the entrepreneurial bug early and has remained passionate about launching new businesses and spearheading technology innovation. In 2010, Zeto founded Proximus Mobility, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that developed a proximity marketing service while starting several businesses and business units within Fortune 100 companies.
Throughout his career, he has helped grow businesses from $0 to $500 million in revenue within just a few years, leading to Boingo Wireless recruiting him in 2020. Boingo Wireless is a leader in the global telecom and wireless industry. Its cellular and Wi-Fi networks reach more than 1 billion people annually.
Under Zeto’s leadership, Boingo grew its footprint and launched a private network solution. He also supported the company through a $854 million acquisition before he was promoted from senior vice president of operations to chief commercial officer. He was also instrumental in securing partnerships with the Rockefeller Center, the Q2 Stadium and opened the Boingo Innovation Center in Las Vegas that serves as a hub for testing how 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and IoT technology can enhance smart cities, entertainment, hospitality, gaming, transportation and sports industries.
Zeto said he embraces his ability to see certainty in the uncertainty and lead teams through unchartered territories. “Whether founding a software-as-a-service company or leading or starting a business at a Fortune 500 company, building new business demands strategic vision and flexibility,” he said. “I thrive in emerging markets.”
Zeto has also been recognized as a thought leader in the industry.
“Michael is an established industry thought leader, recognized for leading companies to liquidity events, driving innovation and growth and receiving multiple recognitions and awards,” said his colleagues. “He is passionate about technology innovation to create more jobs, spur economic growth and realize the promise of smart cities and environmentally conscious infrastructure.”
He acts as a mentor and advisor to early-stage entrepreneurs throughout the U.S., is a contributor to Forbes, member of several leading technology associations and speaks at events nationwide to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship.
According to Zeto, supporting your local community is key to personal and professional success. “Atlanta is a thriving, diverse business community, and I’ve met friends and colleagues in this city who have been a great source of professional support throughout my career,” he said. “I believe in listening to those around you, both colleagues and customers; I love this city and believe that we can keep doing great things for Georgia residents.”
