Court Parker

Chief Executive Officer

Bug Busters USA

Location: Woodstock

Founded: 1984

Industry: Pest Control

Court Parker’s father started Bug Busters USA out of the basement of his family home in Acworth, Georgia. While the company began as a one-man show, Bug Busters continued to grow with Court Parker now as the CEO and his sister, Daphne Bertholf, as the CFO.

Bug Busters USA is a pest control company with a mission to continually strive for a commitment to excellence through a high regard for customer service and the growth and development of its employees. Both commitments are achieved through responsible management at all levels, continuing education, community involvement and the use of the latest technology available in the pest control industry.

Under Parker’s leadership, the company has expanded to add new lines of service that include thermal remediation for bed bugs and testing for vector-borne disease. The firm now offers a full range of pest and wildlife control services to residential customers in the southeastern United States. Since 2010, Parker has overseen the acquisition of 15 companies ranging in value from one million to just a few hundred dollars and is proud that a majority of the customers from the acquired businesses have chosen to stay with Bug Busters.

“The word titan conjures images of strength and leadership and someone who is larger than life,” said Parker’s colleagues. “Court Parker fits that description perfectly – he exudes strength and leadership that is tempered with humility, willingness to learn and a great sense of humor.”

Parker’s passion about the pest control industry is contagious and he is generous in sharing his knowledge freely, especially with those who are new to the field. In addition to serving on various boards, Parker is a frequently sought-after speaker for industry-related events.

“While Court’s official title is CEO, he considers himself a steward of the business his father founded 39 years ago,” said his staff. “He takes his leadership role very seriously and consistently puts the needs of his customers and team members first.”

This approach has led to honors and recognitions for the company and Parker, including the Vistage Member Excellence Award for Georgia and recognition as a 40 Under 40 by PCT Magazine.

“Rather than selling a service, I think those of us in the pest control industry are selling time to our customers,” said Parker. “By purchasing my time and expertise as a professional, customers gain time back to do the things that are most important to them – like spending time with friends and family. Time has been called the great equalizer, and as a leader, I take that seriously which is why I strive to set an example where my time is being used wisely to grow myself, the team and ultimately, our company.”

For a variety of reasons, I believe time manipulation is my secret superpower. Rather than selling a service, I think those of us in the pest control industry are selling time to our customers. By purchasing my time and expertise as a professional, customers gain time back to do the things that are most important to them – like spending time with friends and family. Time has been called the great equalizer, and as a leader, I take that seriously. I strive to set an example, where my time is being used wisely to grow myself, the team, and ultimately our company.
