Dr. Anushka Gaglani came from humble beginnings without any knowledge of how to start a business. Her sole focus was to get into dental school, graduate and start working as an associate doctor. “I graduated from dental school and was somewhat lost, so I ended up joining a company as an associate dentist that was the wrong fit,” said Gaglani. “After this experience, I knew I wanted to start my own practice.”
Dr. Gaglani and her business partner Dr. Abhishek Nagaraj moved to Chicago and bought a practice from a retiring dentist and Areo Dental Group was formed. Areo Dental Group is a dental practice with a core focus to provide stellar patient experiences through high-quality same-day comprehensive care and education.
Within one year in business, Areo Dental Group quadrupled the revenue of the practice, cleared out 30-year old invoices and supplies and ripped down the 80s wallpaper in the practice with Dr. Gaglani serving as the co-CEO and co-Founder. The practice has grown to not only provide exceptional care of its patients but also foster the education of associate doctors.
“We most enjoy passing our knowledge and skills on to our associate doctors so we can have a bigger impact,” said Gaglani. “There used to be nothing more I loved than a fearful patient saying I cured them of their fear of the dentist; now, there is nothing more I love than having one of my associates receive the same comment from one of their patients.”
As a visionary of the company, Gaglani and her business partner have led the company to the Inc5000 twice and the Inc5000 Regionals. Dr. Gaglani has been invited on multiple podcasts and panels within the industry and participates at the Becker’s Healthcare Dental Symposium.
Dr. Gaglani said she is a huge believer in not just continuing education on the clinical side, but also in personal growth as a leader and a human being, constantly striving for excellence. “As a business owner, it is easy to get bogged down in the weeds, so I take at least one buffer day a week and invest in coaching two-to four times a quarter to be able to pull myself out of working in the business and to focus on the business,” she said. “Growth is exciting and it’s important to take the time away from the day-to-day operations of the business to be able to focus on growth and take that back to the team.”
For her unending commitment to education, the dental industry and her personal and professional growth, Dr. Gaglani has been named a titan.
