Shane Snyder

President
Cannon & Wendt

Location: Phoenix
Founded: 1945
Industry: Construction

Shane Snyder's journey to his role as president of Cannon & Wendt started with a decision to leave his home state of Utah and move to Arizona.

Snyder attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he studied economics and became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He completed his electrical apprenticeship and earned an associate degree in science, then relocated to join the team at Cannon & Wendt in 1994.

“The most important risk for me to take was to leave Utah 29 years ago and move to Arizona,” Snyder said. “I had been working for a friend of the family-owned business and was working my way up the ladder when my wife and I had our first child. It was then that we made the decision to relocate to Arizona to be closer to her family. This was not an easy decision as I would be giving up any tenure as well as earning a greatly reduced wage due to the local economy, basically starting over. Along the way there were offers of money and titles, but we stayed the course supporting the company that supported our family.”

That decision has paid off for Snyder. Throughout his tenure at Cannon & Wendt, Snyder has held several positions, including journeyman wireman, foreman, project manager, division manager and executive vice president. His extensive experience in different roles within the company has equipped him with a deep understanding of the electrical construction industry.

Under Snyder’s leadership, Cannon & Wendt has grown to nearly 500 employees and did more than $100 million in revenue, which is a significant jump from just 5 years ago when the company had 325 employees and $73 million in revenue.

Snyder has been involved in various committees of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), including serving as the Governor of the Arizona Chapter of NECA, Chairman of the NECA Labor Management Committee, Trustee of the IBEW/NECA Pension & Annuity Funds and Arizona Chapter representative on the NECA Political Leadership Committee.

Snyder has instilled a culture of giving back at Cannon & Wendt, which traces its roots to 1945. As a 100% employee-owned company, they are dedicated to supporting the communities that have supported them for over 75 years. Cannon & Wendt had donated to and partnered with organizations such as the Humane Society, St. Vincent de Paul, Phoenix Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, Phoenix Rescue Mission and the 100 Club.
