Amish Purohit

Dr. Amish Purohit left a comfortable and well-paying position to start Arkos Health in 2019. He was aware of the sacrifices he would have to make, including spending time away from his family and missing important events. However, he was determined to create a company that could make a real difference in people's lives.

“When you launch a startup, there are a lot of sacrifices that you have to make, especially on family time and commitments,” he said. “To get to the successful level that Arkos has achieved, I have had to live out of a suitcase for a few years because the travel requirements have been massive, and I missed out on key family events as well as sacrificing a part of being a parent.

“This is by far the biggest risk (I have taken) because you are also risking the livelihood of your family, and if this fails, or even struggles, how do you ensure that you can meet the economic needs of the family beyond all the other family responsibilities?”

Arkos Health aims to organize and simplify healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable communities and seniors who often face challenges in navigating the complex healthcare system. Driven by a mission to eliminate healthcare disparities and ensure health equality, Arkos Health is dedicated to achieving optimal health for its patients and relieving them from the stress associated with healthcare.

Under Purohit's leadership, Arkos Health has experienced rapid growth and expansion. He put together a team of top executives and has grown the company from $7 million in revenues to over $250 million in revenues in just three years of operations.

Purohit is a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians that reflects his clinical knowledge and ability to develop other physician leaders. In 2007, 2014 and 2018, he earned Top Family Doctor by the Consumers' Research Council of America. He was named to the Top 100 Health Care Leaders by International Forum on Healthcare in 2019 and Top 100 Healthcare Visionaries by International Forum on Healthcare in 2021.

Purohit has a master’s degree in Healthcare from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He earned his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Family Medicine from the University Hospital of Cleveland and an Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic.
