Katie Wafer Gillberg was an early believer in IV therapy, and she went all in on the concept by making it her business and livelihood.
“I opened an IV Bar before IV therapy was as popular as it is today,” she said. “People associated IVs with a hangover cure, but I truly believed in the value of IV therapy for health and wellness. I believed in the concept and knew that once people understood the benefits, they would see the value. It was a risk, or as I like to call it a leap of faith, but it was the best leap I’ve ever taken.”
Hydrate IV Bar is a collection of IV therapy spas promoting wellness from within throughout Colorado and beyond. “Clients come to us for our vitamin injections, signature IV therapy cocktails, and NAD+ injections and infusions, but they stay for the atmosphere. Hydrate IV Bars are overseen by a medical team of experienced doctors, nurses and medical professionals. The company offers monthly memberships for clients who want regular IVs, shot passes for clients looking for a quick pick-me-up and a build-your-own IV option for clients looking to meet specific needs.
Wafer Gillberg learned about IV therapy working in medical sales in Las Vegas, where she became familiar with the mobile IV vans that would drive around the strip. Through IV therapy, Katie recognized that vitamins could go directly into a customer’s bloodstream, which results in a much more effective treatment.
Wafer Gillberg started with one location in Bonnie Brae in 2016, and the business has grown to 10 spas in Colorado, Arizona and Texas, with plans to open more locations through a franchising program in 2023. Wafer Gillberg and Hydrate IV Bar have been recognized by almost every local news network and publication in their prospective areas, and they have also received national press. Hydrate IV Bar was named Cherry Creek Chamber’s Business of the Year in 2017 and the company received the MindBody visionary award in 2018 and 2019, Reader’s Choice Best of NOCO 2022 and Best IV Hydration Therapy Spa Dallas 2022.
Wafer Gillberg serves as the board chair of the Cherry Creek Chamber of Commerce, the treasurer of the Highland Merchants Association and the president-elect of the Butterfly Children Fund. In her spare time, she likes to travel, spend time with her family and friends, stay active, and enjoy Colorado outdoors — snowboarding in the winter and camping in the summer — always getting an IV in between.
