Chief Operating Officer

HM Holdings, LLC

Location: Aurora, CO

Founded: 2016

Industry: Home Health

Bob Cohen’s work experience has taken him from his neighborhood paper route in Queens, New York, to working as the AnheuserBusch representative on his college campus, to working as an auditor/consultant in the newly launched Entrepreneurial Services Group at Arthur Young & Co., to owning his own vending business and his own salsa business and working as a chief operating officer and chief financial officer for a variety of small companies.

“In my executive roles, my success and the success of the companies with whom I worked has always been dependent on having a clear vision and focus of how and where to grow, in addition to being flexible to adjust as opportunities arise,” Cohen said. “Additionally, surrounding myself with people who are accountable, responsible, diligent thinkers, leaders and self-starters in their own right to help move the organizations forward. I have always encouraged new ideas and better ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively and it takes the right people to do this.

“A common theme of anyone who has ever worked for me would probably say that they always knew where they stood with me and what I expected of them. Additionally, I have been very fortunate to surround myself with other business professionals who are experts in their own right to provide support and knowledge when needed.” Cohen is chief operating officer at HM Holdings, a provider of adult day and home care services. Its mission is to ensure the elderly and/or disabled receive the quality of care they need, giving family members and caregivers peace of mind and trust that their loved ones are in safe hands.

Cohen has been an instrumental part of the company’s success since he came on board in 2021. Revenue grew by more than 50% from 2020 to 2021 and by more than 25% from 2021 to 2022. Over the same time period, the company strengthened its staffing, built out its infrastructure, implemented new policies and procedures, enhanced financial accountability and reporting and upgraded technology, all under Cohen’s supervision.

Looking into 2023 and beyond, the company will expand its existing operations to include new day care facilities and expanded home care services and will commence the sale of medical supplies. The business plans to open at least one new day care facility every year over the next five years and to expand its geographical presence to other areas along the Boulder-Denver-Colorado Springs corridor. The company expects to continue with its annual revenue growth trajectory of 20%–25%.
