Rose Thompson was raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. Her mother’s unrelenting drive is what has inspired Thompson throughout her career and now as the COO of ButcherJoseph & Co. “She had a work ethic like no other and my mother was driven to deliver value in every job she had,” said Thompson. “Her drive is still one of my greatest sources of inspiration today.”

The results she and her team deliver for clients of ButcherJoseph & Co., carry tremendous meaning for Thompson. “We have incredibly talented people at ButcherJoseph, and it’s an inherent honor to help them grow and develop within our firm,” Thompson said. “The work we do ultimately changes people’s lives.”

ButcherJoseph & Co. is an investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Thompson began as a mid-level marketing executive in 2013. “Early on, she showed not only a high level of skill in leading marketing and communications but also as a seasoned development executive who was able to develop strong relationships with local business leaders,” said her staff.

Ultimately, Thompson transitioned into a client facing role and has been instrumental in originating and closing a number of mergers and acquisitions and employee stock ownership plan transactions. In 2020, she was promoted to COO and learned to navigate the ongoing pandemic while instilling a completely new level of adaptability, nimbleness and resiliency among the staff.

In her current role, Thompson leads the strategic endeavors and day-to-day operations. “She is a trusted advisor to both of our company founders, and she is active in the community, holding leadership positions and membership affiliations with a number of organizations in the St. Louis area,” said her staff.

Thompson said she believes that every leader has a responsibility to help people become the heroes they’re capable of becoming. “I often cite Donald Miller’s book ‘Building a Story Brand,’” said Thompson. “While the book focuses more on the ways in which a company can refine the story told to customers, the story inside the company must be authentic.”

Authenticity involves encouraging growth from within, she said. “I don’t think you can make that happen without genuinely caring about your people and fostering an environment that helps them reach their potential,” she said.

For fostering the growth of the investment bank, its clients and employees, Thompson has been named a Titan.
