Marie A. Casey

President

Casey Communications, Inc.

Location: St. Louis, MO

Founded: 1983

Industry: Marketing Communications

As the fourth of eight children, Marie Casey learned at age 10 that she and all her siblings were expected to go to college and pay their own tuition. At 14, she began cleaning several dry-cleaning stores and by 16, she had saved enough money to make an interest-free loan so an older sister could pay for her college tuition.

She learned early on that hard work pays off and after working as an editor, publisher and reporter throughout college, that hard work led to the launch of Casey Communications, Inc. in 1983, where she currently serves as the president.

Casey Communications, Inc. tells the stories of businesses, organizations and individuals in strategic ways to help them grow, attract great people and enhance their reputation. The firm’s work is rooted in compelling storytelling that is shared internally and externally through multiple channels.

“I have been given the gifts of insatiable curiosity and an ear for touchstone stories,” said Casey. “Through my research, writing and book creation, my influence is based on magnifying the greatness of others – their creativity and innovations, values, steadfastness and consistent ability to transform challenges into opportunities over the arc of time.”

This natural talent for storytelling has allowed Casey and her team to partner with business leaders and collect and share stories in ways that connect mission and values. “It’s a need that never goes out of style,” she said.

Casey said she is most proud of the books she has researched, written and produced for the impact of her long service to the Missouri Historical Society, the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the St. Louis Mercantile Library.

As a leader, Casey said that relationships built on trust lead to success. “The greatest leadership lesson I’ve learned is that we deposit or withdraw trust through every interaction, and the value of long, high-trust relationships is enormous,” she said.

Casey has carved out two key niches in the field of communications to develop lasting business enterprises where no others have gone, said her staff.

“She did this first by focusing her firm on telling the stories of design, construction and development firms, as well as related labor-management cooperatives. This work has supported the economic development of the St. Louis region by growing business, creating job and community development opportunities and bringing people together.”

For her commitment to telling the stories of the community and local St. Louis businesses while leading a team with trust, Casey has been named a Titan.
