Simer Mayo

CEO

Valor Global

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Founded: 2004

Industry: Business Process Outsourcing/Call Center

Simer Mayo earned his master’s degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, worked as an IT consultant for a couple of years and co-founded Valor Global in 2004 with his wife, Vicky Mayo.

Valor Global is a call center and technology company based in Phoenix, Arizona, with nearly 50% growth in the last two years. The company has over 4,000 employees in the United States, Costa Rica and the Philippines, doubling in size since the pandemic started.

“Our purpose is to provide solutions to our customers in a manner that allows them to focus on their core competencies while we execute on their goals,” the company said.

One of Valor Global’s employee-focused initiatives is the Dream Manager program, which provides support and help for employees to reach their professional goals. The company also offers The Helping Hands program, focused on helping employees in their time of need. It started during the COVID-19 era, funded by employee donations via their paychecks, and Mayo matches the donations dollar for dollar. The program helped 41 employees in 2021 cover needs such as utility bills and groceries.

Mayo also gives back through Valor’s Care for Communities initiative, which allows employees to give back locally and globally.

“When I began the journey to start my first company, I was naïve and green enough to think that the process would not involve such a fight,” Mayo said. “And the battle didn’t end with my first sale nor my first big revenue goal being made. Instead, I must continue with a field of courage to continue to rise in triumph. And I wake up every day and continue in this journey for not only myself and my company but the people that work with and for my companies, as well as the clients and communities that I serve.”

Mayo devotes his time as a mentor to others, and his company’s Leadership Academy concentrates on developing the employees’ career pathways and leadership skills for future success. Mayo’s inspiration comes from tech entrepreneurs who continue to push the limits of the industry, he said.

When COVID-19 hit, Mayo implemented measures to support a safer and virus-free work environment. During this period, Valor Global grew by 40%, providing more than 500 new work opportunities and ensuring job security. This led to the organization receiving the Silver Stevie Award for its corporate response to the global pandemic.

“Not only do I have a commitment and passion to my company brand, customer and associate, but I continue to hold myself accountable to the highest level of integrity while also exercising resilience and transparency throughout my business practices,” Mayo said.
