Dr. Will Moreland

President

Moreland Training and Associates

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Founded: 2010

Industry: Training

As a Black male growing up in Compton, California, Dr. Will Moreland was statistically more likely to end up in jail than college. He saw poverty and violence up close. He recognized the impact of discrimination and it shaped his views on life and opportunity.

“It is his ability to translate those difficult experiences and defeating odds into an unbreakable determination to succeed,” his team said. “His mindset was and continues to be that how he started would not be how he finishes.”

Today, Moreland serves as president of Moreland Training and Associates, counseling CEOs and executive leaders across the globe and inspiring them to understand the importance of diversity and inclusion on business culture and success.

“From our team members to our clients, we put a huge value on people,” Moreland said. “Numbers, systems, processes all have their place in business, but nothing will ever replace the return on investment you get from caring for your team and clients.

“When people feel valued they will perform at a much higher rate. When clients feel valued, they will remain loyal in the toughest of times.”

Moreland Training and Associates provides training solutions to create inclusive cultures of diversity and understanding within schools, organizations and teams. It intends to become the training partner and go-to resource for diversity and inclusion training needs.

Moreland became passionate about leadership and human development while serving in the U.S. Army. An experience that exposed him to people from all over the country and the world. He later took a job in the U.S. government before deciding to launch his own consulting company. The company was founded on the belief that we are better together and our diversity makes us stronger.

Over the last 12 years, Moreland Training and Associates has worked with some of the largest businesses in the U.S., creating workplaces that energize, empower and equip employees to produce at a higher level.

In the coming years, MTA plans to expand beyond companies and work with cities and states “to hold companies accountable in creating workplaces that are diverse, equitable and inclusive. Workplaces that give all employees a fair opportunity to gain experience and succeed.”

Moreland has advised local, state and national government officials in more than 50 countries. He was named Ambassador of Civility for his global humanitarian work and has worked with more than 500 entrepreneurs and small businesses to provide training and consulting to help them start or scale their businesses. He is a best-selling author and has written over 50 books and won numerous awards.

Asked about his proudest achievement, he said, “Growing up in Compton, California, being raised by a single mother, not having a blueprint for a successful family — to be able to create a successful family is what I’m proud of.”
