Neil A. Cooper leads by following three guidelines: • Your primary role is to inspire and motivate your team • If you want your team to be great, learn what energizes each individual and empower them to pursue those goals • All eyes are on you — lead by example.
Cooper keeps those in mind in his role as co-founder and executive partner at the legal firm Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld LLC (RCCB). The firm — which John E. Royer, Jr., Barry L. Cohen, Roger J. Braunfeld and Cooper launched in 2012 — is dedicated to providing clients with value and results.
Cooper focuses his practice primarily on business and corporate law matters, effectively serving as outside general counsel to many of his clients in the technology and emerging growth spaces, the firm said.
“I am more energized than ever to empower our existing team, continue to attract the best team members and surpass our clients’ expectations,” Cooper said. “We are agile, flexible and collaborative so that we remain forward-thinking and innovative as a law firm. We are laser-focused on continuing to build a team of like-minded entrepreneurial lawyers who understand that we are a different kind of firm, focused on the empowerment of each team member.”
Cooper has practiced for 27 years, including beginning his career at Morgan Lewis, serving as general counsel of EXE Technologies, a Nasdaq-listed public software company, and previously founding Cooper Law Group.
At EXE, he helped establish the legal department, and the company grew from a private company with approximately 300 employees and $40 million in revenue to a public company with more than 800 employees, $100 million in revenue and 15 offices worldwide. In 2003, Cooper combined the best of his large-firm training and in-house experience to launch Cooper Law Group, a boutique law practice. He grew that firm for a number of years until he merged his efforts with those of three co-founders to form RCCB. Since then, the firm has grown its revenue nearly tenfold.
Cooper was named to the Philadelphia SmartCEO Legal Elite list in 2010 and has been recognized as a top business and corporate lawyer in Pennsylvania Super Lawyer every year consecutively since 2017.
While RCCB has taken on a number of strategic initiatives, it is also active in philanthropy. RCCB is a founding member of Justice for the Hungry, a fundraising challenge to Pennsylvania-based lawyers and law firms to combat food insecurity across the Commonwealth and beyond, which has raised $625,000 to date. RCCB also dedicates pro bono hours and free legal services to help maintain the nonprofit Pennsylvania 30 Day Fund, which provides forgivable loans for Pennsylvania-based small businesses hit hardest by the unstable economy.
