Tiffany Wilson

President and CEO
University City Science Center

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Founded: 1963
Industry: Nonprofit | Economic Development

Tiffany Wilson has built 20 years of knowledge of medical devices and healthcare technology. In October 2020, she brought that knowledge to the University City Science Center as president and CEO to lead the next chapter of the organization’s 60-year history.

The Science Center’s mission is to unite Philadelphia’s entrepreneurs and accelerate technology innovation that addresses society’s biggest healthcare challenges.

“It’s a constant leadership journey to balance the wants and needs of multiple stakeholders in an effort to bring products and services to the market to help save lives,” Wilson said. “These are innovations that can truly change the outcome of a patient’s life, but often the most challenging part of the equation is navigating and harmonizing the human element.”

In Wilson’s first full calendar year as president and CEO, the Science Center supported 235 startups, more than half of which were minority- or womenfounded; created over 300 jobs; convened 13,000 people at programs and events; and served over 350 students through STEM education.

Wilson was recruited to the Science Center from the Global Center for Medical Innovation in Atlanta, where she was CEO. After a decade working in strategy, finance and business development in earlystage medical device companies, she was brought on board to launch the Global Center for Medical Innovation from inception. Both Georgia Bio and Southeast Life Sciences formally recognized her work in building and strengthening the medical device ecosystem in Atlanta and the Southeast.

Wilson has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2021 and 2022 Power 100 lists, Healthcare Technology Report’s 2021 Top 50 Healthcare Technology CEOs, Inc. Magazine’s 17 Inspiring Women to Watch in 2017 and Becker Hospital Review’s 110 Women in Medtech to Know in 2017.

Wilson is a member of the Team Pennsylvania Board of Directors, the CEO Leadership Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, and the Applied Innovation External Advisory Board for Drexel University.

She is past president of the board of the Southeast Medical Device Association (SEMDA), founding member of Medtech Women@SEMDA, chair of the advisory board for the Global Center for Medical Innovation’s preclinical testing facility and a member of the Georgia Bio board of directors.

In 2015, Wilson received the Georgia Bio Community Award and in 2017 she was presented with the Industry Growth Award, the highest honor bestowed each year by Georgia Bio.

Wilson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business from Loyola University and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
