Jessica Scully

Running a company that’s been in the family for more than 70 years comes with added pressure and responsibility, but Jessica Scully has risen to the challenge.

Founded by James D. Scully over 70 years ago, Scully Company brings three generations of experience to multifamily property management. James D. Scully Jr., Michael A. Scully and Jessica M. Scully are the owners and active leaders of the company, representing the family’s second and third generations.

Scully Company has engaged in the acquisition, development, construction, management and asset management of apartment communities for institutions, private investors and its own portfolio throughout the company’s history. It specializes in owning and managing multifamily real estate. It currently manages 37 multifamily assets in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and Connecticut, totaling over 7,500 units.

Scully’s multifamily management portfolio consists of large-scale garden, mid-rise, and high-rise apartment communities. Additionally, it manages over 150,000 square feet of commercial space.

Scully grew up in the family business, founded by her grandfather in 1948. At age 13, Scully began working for the company at the Port-O-Call Hotel in Ocean City, New Jersey, a 100-room hotel located on the boardwalk. After college, Scully worked outside the company for a short time but quickly found herself back to work in leasing at a Scully property.

Scully worked her way through the ranks, learning and mastering each position along the way. After working through the various leasing office positions over a few years, she joined the corporate office team as a regional manager. She initiated the company’s human resources, marketing and IT departments and ran their day-to-day operations until eventually taking the role of vice president of operations during the Great Recession. She has been president of Scully Company since 2010.

Scully has served on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Apartment Association East, where she was also a past president. She also served on the National Apartment Association Board of Directors as the Region IV vice president and currently serves as a Villanova University Center for Real Estate Advisory Council member.

The culture Scully has fostered has been recognized with multiple accolades, including SmartCEO’s Corporate Culture Awards, the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Best Places to Work award, and the Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal’s Best Places to Work. Scully Company was named a Top Family- Owned Business by the Philadelphia Business Journal and recognized with The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Family-Owned Business Award. Jessica Scully has also been honored as a Top Female CEO by SmartCEO magazine.
