President & Chief Executive Officer

W&A Engineering

Location: Athens, Georgia

Founded: 1999

Industry: Engineering

Jon Williams, ASLA, PLA, said the greatest leadership lesson he has ever learned came from his father. “Leave things better than you found them is something I’ve heard my dad say time and time again throughout my upbringing, and it has inspired every leadership decision I’ve ever made,” said Williams. “It’s the philosophy on which I’ve grown my business.”

Williams, President and CEO of W&A Engineering, said this lesson is the fabric of every conversation that happens within the walls of the firm.

W&A Engineering is a rapidly growing multidisciplinary engineering firm known for innovative design, efficient engineering and professional service. Utilizing a mix of creative and analytical engineering, along with extensive real-world experience, the team at W&A Engineering provides on call economic development services to communities, has project experience in more than 46 states and continues to expand services and forge partnerships in the most dynamic cities. The talented civil engineers, traffic engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, economic development consultants, planners and support staff consistently provide superior customer service through open communication, accessibility, respectfulness and honesty.

“This dedication to service has no expiration date,” said Williams. “Instead, the paths we’ve been setting for ourselves and our communities since 1999 are the foundation on which we will build our next chapter.”

Hailing from a long line of risk takers and world changers, the entrepreneurial spirit has been alive within Williams from a very young age. He grew up working in his father’s grocery store and learned the fundamental principles of business that he would later use to build W&A Engineering.

“Dad always gave generously of his time and money and groceries to anybody that asked,” said Williams.

“Today, we apply that philosophy daily in our work product, in caring for our employees and families and in building better communities.”

W&A Engineering evolved because Williams was motivated to create a workforce that would provide better, more holistic services than any other firm. At 26, he started as a one-person operation and quickly grew to a rapidly-expanding multidisciplinary engineering firm. Projects range from $1 million one acre commercial sites to the $200 million Caterpillar Plant, which was the largest economic development project in the state of Georgia in the past decade.

“Simply put, Jon is the visionary behind everything W&A Engineering does,” said his colleagues. “In the world of engineering, Jon Williams is truly an anomaly, and there is none more worthy of the honor of the title of a Titan.”
