Technical College System of Georgia

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Founded: 2007

Industry: Education

Dr. Cayanna Good strives to lead from the front and toward an outcome. “Without vision, it is very difficult for any organization to sustain great work, recruit top talent or innovate in the field,” she said.

Good is an administrator for the Technical College System of Georgia with a vision to provide opportunities for individuals to escape poverty and live lives of opportunity. She aims to ensure Georgia’s adult education program is the No. 1 in the nation.

The mission of the Technical College System of Georgia is to build a well-educated, globally competitive workforce through technical education, adult education and customized training for Georgia’s businesses and industries. The 22 colleges within the Technical System of Georgia provide state-of-the-art training in high-demand technical fields.

TCSG oversees the state’s technical colleges, adult literacy programs and a host of economic and workforce development programs. It embraces a unified system of technical education, adult education and customized business and industry training through programs that offer easy access to lifelong education and training for all adult Georgians and corporate citizens.

Good leads the office of adult education which administers federal adult education grants, provides adult education training programs for approximately 50,000 Georgians, and supports local adult literacy community groups throughout the state. This office is also responsible for the administration of all of Georgia’s GED testing and awards the high school equivalency credential for Georgians without a high school diploma.

“Throughout her tenure in public service, Dr. Good has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and passion in positions that have improved the entire spectrum of the educational landscape, from early childhood education to high school to workforce,” said her colleagues.

Her career accomplishments have included reorganizing two units with the Georgia Department of Education to provide a more effective and efficient system of support to the lowest achieving K-12 schools in the state of Georgia. At TCSG, Good’s leadership has brought rapid improvements to adult education by providing flexibility in pathways to obtain a high school credential and making data driven programmatic changes to improve outcomes.

“Her vision led Georgia to becoming the first adult education providing system in the nation to register its students online,” said her staff. For her commitment to advancing higher education, Good has been named a Titan.
