Denver, CO
Founded: 2007
Industry: Aviation Planning & Engineering

Since 1996, Jim Trott has been planning, designing, and constructing airport projects nationally and throughout the Rocky Mountain region. He possesses a technically strong engineering background with specific expertise in airport development. This background and his quest to become a leading professional services consultant in the aviation industry led Trott to join forces with Jim Fluhr and J.D. Ingram to launch Jviation, Inc. in 2007.

“All three of us have worked together at airports in the Rocky Mountain Region for nearly 30 years,” said Trott. “We built a reputation for exceptional technical expertise, superior client service and a thorough understanding of the aviation industry.”

The success of Jviation can be attributed to their expert understanding of the aviation industry because of their concentrated market focus and their emphasis on building relationships with their clients.

“Jviation seeks to become a trusted advisor and premiere provider of aviation consulting services in the United States,” said Trott. This is being accomplished through a hallmark of the company, which is the longevity of its employees.  His partners and colleagues attribute employee satisfaction and longevity to Trott, who has served as the company’s president since its inception.

According to his partners, Trott has “continually focused on developing strong personal relationships and empowering his employees. By exemplifying good workplace values, the firm has recognized steady growth and expansion under his leadership.”

Since the company’s launch in 2007, Jviation has grown from a staff of five with one office location to a staff of 105 with nine offices spanning from Ohio to California. Jviation was honored with the Corporate Cup of Excellence Award for Medium Enterprise and recognized by the Northwest Chapter of American Association of Airport Executives with the Corporate Cup of Excellence.

According to Trott, the goal is for the company to be a recognized industry leader, delivering innovative operational excellence, unparalleled value-added services and enriched client and employee relationships. His leadership style has indisputably influenced the success of the company over the years.

“It’s essential to listen to the people you work with at all levels,” said Trott. “It’s difficult to be an effective leader if you don’t understand what is actually happening around you.” Trott said he plans to continue learning from his employees and peers and excel in developing the up and coming staff.

“Seeing the workforce’s growth and success is what really drives me,” he said. “I feel I can be most influential in our industry with this type of focus.”

For his proven technical expertise in the aviation industry and commitment to employee longevity, Trott has earned a spot as a Titan 100.

Fun Fact:

Listening to the people you work with at all levels.  It's difficult to be an effective leader if you don't understand what is actually happening around you.  Being open and accepting to all ideas and engaging  people is also very effective for me as a leader as I don't have all the answers.
