Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Patientory, Inc.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Founded: 2015

Industry: Healthcare

“In the last year, the greatest leadership lesson I’ve learned is being able to pass on the torch. A good leader knows they can’t do it all and works to empower those around them,” said Chrissa McFarlane, founder and CEO of Patientory, Inc.

At Patientory, McFarlane oversees a team that’s working to improve health outcomes by giving patients greater access to their own medical records. The proprietary online platform and app give patients control of their own health information, providing a streamlined location for recording information about their family medical history, current health conditions, immunization records and more.

Using blockchain technology, the platform also makes it easy for patients to share their health data with others as needed, including physicians, clinicians, employers and healthcare organizations.

“Our company offers an easy-to-use patient-empowerment platform,” McFarlane said. “Our goal is to empower people with actionable, data-driven insights for improved health outcomes and greater well-being.”

Under McFarlane’s leadership, Patientory, Inc. has been nominated in the Best Digital Health Solution category of the pre-eminent Prix Galien USA prize — considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for the American life sciences industry — in both 2021 and 2022.

McFarlane’s long-term goals for Patientory are bold and sweeping: She believes the company has a chance to improve healthcare globally by making health information more accessible to patients around the world.

“My mission for Patientory is to increase health equity,” she said.

McFarlane is a recognized industry expert in the use of blockchain technology in healthcare. She has participated in numerous national and international panels and forums on the topic, including the Future Blockchain Summit in Dubai and the StartUp Health Festival in San Francisco.

“I believe blockchain can transform healthcare and further integrate the social determinants of health into care,” she explained.

Beyond her work with Patientory, McFarlane is also the author of the book Future Women: Minority Female Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Era of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. A mentor to several young entrepreneurs, McFarlane believes in supporting the next generation of leaders. She often speaks publicly about how to become a successful female entrepreneur and minority entrepreneur. She is also a contributing crypto/blockchain writer for Forbes and a member of the Georgia 2022–2023 Titan 100 Board of Directors.

In Atlanta, McFarlane serves on numerous boards and committees, including the Atlanta CEO Council and the Atlanta Women in Cybersecurity Roundtable. She is also a member of the Junior League of Atlanta, through which she actively supports service projects to benefit underserved communities in the city.
