Eric Smart’s career may have been focused on manufacturing in the food and pharmaceutical industries for years, but it has been punctuated with unique entrepreneurial endeavors. As an entrepreneur, he has built a successful consulting firm and a continental professional cycling team.

Additionally, in 2016, after he and Dr. Bill Goble identified the therapeutic capabilities of Cannabidiol (CBD), he took on yet another unique entrepreneurial challenge and established his current company, Myaderm, in 2017. Myaderm uses proven pharmaceutical technologies to create innovative cannabinoid products that provide a therapeutic benefit.

“We have seized this new, emerging market opportunity to improve lives with products that help people to feel, look and be better every day,” said Smart. The company has established an industry leadership position through rigorous innovation and quality control and by building on the proven market success of technically-driven products.

“Our leadership and innovation are the differentiators and competitive advantages that will result in Myaderm being the most recognized, highest regarded CBD brand in the world in the next five years,” said Smart.

Within three years, Smart and his team have built the most retailer-distributed CBD brand in the United States with approximately 9,000 retail doors that has led to high market penetration and revenue growth of 600%.

“Myaderm has risen to the top using expertise in creating highly-effective therapeutic products that are totally compliant with FDA standards and guidance,” said Smart.

According to his colleagues, the company’s expertise has been leveraged by a best-in-industry management team led by Smart that exceeds competitors in pedigree and experience. Smart has been eager and willing to share his expertise with local and national audiences. He is the only CEO in the industry who regularly appears on national and regional media.

He can be seen on Fox Business, Fox, ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates. Smart has also published op-ed articles in The Hill, The Daily Caller and other national publications.

His goal is to continue sharing his expertise and expanding Myaderm’s success. Smart’s leadership skills have also enhanced the growth of the company. “I plan to continue to lead the industry in multiple categories,” he said.

For his dedication to entrepreneurship, his success as the CEO of Myaderm and his influence within an industry focused on consumer-packaged goods and CBD topical creams, Smart has been named a Titan of industry.

Fun Fact:

In 2010 Eric owned a Continental professional cycling team built to win the Tour of California. Unfortunately, Lance Armstrong, who had begun racing again after a short retirement, did not want to compete against one of the team’s marquee cyclists, Floyd Landis, who had been a teammate of Armstrong and won the race in a previous year. This culminated in a bitter dispute between the team, Armstrong and the race directors, which was made public by the Wall Street Journal at the beginning of the 2010 Tour of California. The details of Armstrong’s and Landis’ past collaborations using performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) were leaked to the Journal and ultimately resulted in Armstrong being stripped of his titles and banned from cycling. Though the team was kept from racing the Tour of California in 2010 there was a silver lining that the nefarious efforts of Lance Armstrong were brought to light.
