While still in college, Jamie Limber started his entrepreneurial career by putting up Christmas decorations on people’s homes to earn some extra cash. During this time, he realized that there were no products available in the market that could make the process of seasonal decorating easier for consumers. This prompted him to begin inventing products that could help people install and remote their holiday decorations with ease.
He began selling products in stores in Arizona, and by 1994, expanded nationally with products in stores like Home Depot, Target and Lowes. A stint on QVC began a two-year relationship with the television network which helped launch a series of consumer products companies, including the Christmas Light Company and Simple Living Solutions which now has 25 national retail partners.
Operating in the seasonal category for 25 years, Simple Living Solutions offers solution-based products now in categories such as garden patio, home organization and harvest with 76 patents provided for inventions. As a result, the company has received the Inc. 5000 award five times and was recognized as the fastest-growing privately held company in America for three consecutive years.
“Persistence, patience, planning and people – these are the essential characteristics that have paved the way for all the success I have achieved in life,” said Limber. “It’s crucial to surround oneself with people who aren’t afraid to say no and explain why.”
Looking forward, the company is on track to being awarded 100 U.S. patents over a lifetime by 2026 and plans to tap into new markets with technological advancements.
Limber said he encourages creativity among his team and never dismisses any idea as a bad one. “Their ideas could complement and enhance another good idea,” he said. “Keep innovating and never stop.”
As a leader, Limber said it is crucial to care for individuals not just professionally but personally as well. “It is essential to celebrate the good moments and also support each other during challenging times, just like a family,” he said. “I view our business as a family, and finding the right fit is crucial for our team’s success and belief in the organization’s future.”
That’s why Limber likes the saying: If you’re not growing, you’re rotting. “At Simple Living Solutions, we are a group of entrepreneurs, and we do not thrive on order-taking,” he said. “We welcome individuals who want to learn, grow, and succeed both personally and professionally.”
