Builders Asphalt, LLC, comes from a construction-oriented family with more than 100 years of experience in asphalt production and paving. With its first plant opened in 2006 and IDOT prequalification in 2009, the growth has been immense with Ryan Gandy serving as the president.
“Under the invaluable guidance of my mentors and following years of dedicated work and continuous learning, both in the field and as an estimator, I assumed the position of president for builders,” said Gandy. “Overseeing all company operations for builders, I aim to assist in achieving our financial goals, objectives and increasing our operating performance.
Builders Asphalt is an IDOT certified manufacturer of hot mix asphalt for the Chicagoland area. The firm’s subsidiary company, Builders Paving, works throughout the area for IDOT as well as local municipalities.
Under Gandy’s leadership, the company has acquired additional locations and expand its footprint. “I immersed myself in the intricate process of preparing for our new facilities, fueled by an immense passion for this industry,” he said. In addition, the firm has been an active participant in industry related events to forge valued relationships and make a mark within the Chicagoland construction community. The company’s production capacity increased over the last three years and operations expanded.

Gandy’s professional accomplishments include a 17-year journey at Builders where he has spearheaded the expansion initiative and company recognition as the Best Contractor to Work For award. The company’s contributions have been featured in magazines, including Asphalt Contractor, Pavement Maintenance and Reconstruction and Equipment Today.
“One of my most gratifying achievements lies in nurturing and leading an exceptional team of quality control professionals,” said Gandy. “Together, we have been instrumental in shaping and designing IDOT certified mix designs that are essential within our industry, evidence of our dedication to product quality and industry standards.”
