Eyal Benishti says that, even if you don’t feel entirely ready, it’s important to get started on the endeavor in front of you. If you wait until circumstances are perfect, you may never get out of the gate.
“Jump right in,” said Benishti, the CEO of cybersecurity firm IRONSCALES. “Don’t wait until you feel ‘ready.’”
Benishti took that approach when he launched his own cybersecurity product.
“I was working as a security researcher, malware analyst and reverse engineer when I decided to take the leap and pursue that passion full-time by starting my own product related to email security,” he said. “To focus on this new venture, I locked myself in my home office and began coding the first version of the product.”
Today, Benishti leads IRONSCALES, an email security company focused on fighting back against what it calls today’s modern phishing attacks.

“I best solve complex problems by getting my thoughts on paper with a pen and sketchbook. I also like to take long walks or showers to clear my head. I find that a change in scenery helps to think about challenges differently,” Benishti said.
Before founding IRONSCALES, Benishti was a security researcher and malware analyst at Radware and worked as technical lead for information security solutions at Imperva. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Bar-Ilan University in Israel and is an alumnus of the Israel Defense Forces’ elite Intelligence Acceleration Program.
Benishti started IRONSCALES in 2014 because he was often being asked by coworkers if a specific email was phishing or not, and he saw an opportunity to create software that could train people on how to spot phishing.
Benishti regularly attends and presents at cybersecurity conferences to connect with and learn from end users, security practitioners and his peers. He has also been recognized as a Top CEO by the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards and as a Top 50 SaaS CEO in 2021.
