Transact

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Founded: 1984
Industry: FinTech

Nancy Langer has led groundbreaking work in digital banking and online bill payments, and in 2021 she brought her considerable tech and leadership skills to Transact as the company’s new CEO.

Transact offers payment and mobile credential solutions for college campuses and their students. Transact solutions facilitate $45 billion in payments annually and have enabled more than 90 million contactless mobile wallet transactions and $150 million in mobile orders in less than three years.

Transact works with 68 of the top 100 colleges and universities as ranked by the 2021 U.S. News and World Report. The company serves over 12 million students per year, works with 2,500 retail partners and integrates with 270 companies to serve clients and campus communities. Transact plans to expand to other markets, such as K–12 schools, international locations and corporate and medical campuses.

“We can serve multiple user segments, from the students to their parents and grandparents,” Langer said. “For the users of our systems, we are a singlesource solution to meet multiple needs across the entire campus experience. And, we have great partnerships with companies that today’s Gen Z students identify with, like Apple, Google, Microsoft and Grubhub.”

In previous roles, Langer served as chief product officer for a $9 billion fintech company and executive vice president of sales and relationship management for an IT company with a $1 billion client base. She has proven results in leading and scaling startups to highgrowth businesses, turning mature businesses around and driving organic mergers and acquisitions growth.

Langer is a member of the Wall Street Journal CEO Council as well as the Forbes Council. She was recently named one of The 10 Most Inspiring Business Leaders to Follow by CIO Views Magazine, and one of the Top 50 Women of Influence for Housing Wire Magazine in 2019 and 2018. She was a Stevie Award winner in 2015 and 2016 for Female Executive of the Year for companies with more than 2,500 employees.

Since Langer joined the company in 2021, Transact was recognized at the 18th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business, winning a Gold Stevie Award for Achievement in Product Innovation. She sits on the boards of directors for the Royal Bank of Canada-U.S. and Nomis Solutions.

One of Langer’s proudest initiatives is the product team’s accomplishments. Transact is launching nine new products between October 2021 and the end of 2022. One of those products is International Payments, which gives students the freedom to choose how they pay via the student portal, including popular alternative payment methods such as Alipay and WeChat. Transact International Payments solution has seen widespread adoption and acceptance, processing payments from 162 countries and supporting more than 134 currencies.
