Matt Walsh

Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Blue Signal

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Founded: 2012
Industry: Staffing and Recruiting

Matt Walsh started with a vision to create a company that matches candidates with jobs they’re passionate about and companies with hires that do more than just fill a need on a spreadsheet.

In less than 10 years, that vision has grown from a one-man basement operation to a multimillion dollar business with a national presence.

Blue Signal was founded in Chicago in 2012 and since then, has grown into a multimillion dollar executive, permanent, contract and temporary placement firm with offices in the Phoenix and Chicago areas. Blue Signal has established itself as a trusted executive search firm within wireless/telecom, emerging technology, IT, lighting, food/agriculture, plastics and packaging, cloud, medical/healthcare, IoT and related industry niches.

“At Blue Signal, we believe hiring the right people is the best way to transform business,” Walsh’s team said. “Our targeted, specialized searches deliver highly qualified professionals to meet every hiring need. Our team has decades of combined experience in finding the right people for each unique company culture and industry niche.”

Blue Signal has grown to 50 nationwide employees, and it has been recognized with a number of awards along the way. Blue Signal was listed as an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Company, Forbes Magazine Top Staffing Firm and the NASB’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. Blue Signal has also been recognized as The Best of Tempe; Top Recruiter award for 2019, 2020, 2021; the No. 2 Executive Search Firm of Arizona for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and the No. 1 Technical Placement Firm in Arizona for 2022.

During the height of the pandemic, Walsh provided discounts to clients in essential industries and rallied company donations to nonprofits, including Feeding America, UNICEF, Arizona Community Foundation’s Arizona COVID-19 Community Response Fund and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s (CDP) COVID-19 Response Fund.

Walsh spoke at the 2021 National Association of Personnel Services Conference in Las Vegas and continues to be a trusted resource to those in the recruiting industry. In May 2021, he became a member of the Pinnacle Society, an elite group that recognizes the best 80 recruiters in the nation.

Walsh, a graduate of Illinois State University, offers this as his most important leadership lesson:

“Hire and surround yourself with really good people who care tremendously,” he said. “The greatest value of having good people around you is not what you get from them but the better person you become because of them. So, hire people that care about the mission and your values. It will make the journey toward growth that much more rewarding.”
