Lisa Lund

Broker & Owner
Lund Mortgage Team, Inc.

Location: Glendale, AZ
Founded: 2009
Industry: Mortgage

Lisa Lund got her first taste of the mortgage business by going with her father on Take Your Daughter to Work Day. “I remember the feeling I had when I watched him work with people to help them with their dreams of homeownership,” Lund recalled. “I think I was the only 8 year old who asked for a 10-key calculator and typewriter that year.”

That initial interest grew into a career when Lund became an adult. She started as a receptionist and worked her way up, learning to love finance, budgeting and helping clients achieve homeownership. Eventually, she wanted to operate her own mortgage company.

“When I got into the industry, it was pretty much run by all men, and I saw an opportunity to become a company owned by a woman and do it differently,” she said. “I wanted to really show other women that they can do whatever they put their mind to, and they could be owners as well.”

Today, Lund owns Lund Mortgage Team, Inc. In an industry where the average employee is a man in his 50s, Lund is working to develop the next generation of mortgage professionals. She envisions the company as a draw for young adults fresh out of high school or college who want to learn the industry and grow within it.

“I hope to keep encouraging younger people to be interested in (the) mortgage industry and show them how to truly help others and see the joy in helping someone purchase their first home or their forever home,” Lund said. “As a young mom myself, I hope to encourage other young women to reach for the stars. This industry really has no limits and does not discriminate, meaning that it doesn’t matter if you’re man or woman or your age or where you came from, it is truly one of the only industries that you get out what you put in.”

Lund believes connecting with the local community is important to her company as well. It sponsors schools and youth sports teams and works with a number of charities.

Lund and her company have been recognized with a number of honors and awards, including AZ Business Leaders Shaping the Future; Housing Wire Women of Influence; Next 40 Mortgage Professionals to Watch; and Best of Arizona Business 2020 and 2019, among others. She is the past state president of Arizona Association of Mortgage Professionals.

“Homeownership is the largest purchase most people will make in their lifetime, and it is the No. 1 way for the middle class to earn wealth,” Lund said. “Being able to be a mortgage advisor and not just loan officer or application taker is what I hope to instill. I love to lead by example and show how creating relationships in life is key. The best way to grow business is to nurture those relationships.”
