Scott Gray

President and CEO
Clincierge

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Founded: 1994
Industry: Clinical Trials

Scott Gray is the founder and CEO of Clincierge, the global leader in patient support services for clinical trials. After learning how patients struggled with the logistics of clinical trials, Scott developed the concept of Clincierge to help alleviate the burden of trial participation on patients and their caregivers.

Clincierge reduces barriers to clinical trial participation by enhancing the patient experience, increasing patient retention and improving clinical trial performance. The result is earlier client submissions with the potential of coming to market sooner and recovering research and development investments ahead of projections.

Today, Clincierge coordinators manage complex patient logistics, including transportation, crossborder travel, long-term housing and medical accommodations, as well as stipends and reimbursements.

Before launching Clincierge, Gray spent more than 20 years managing meetings and events for the pharmaceutical industry when a repeat client asked him to lend his expertise to a rare disease clinical trial, explaining that logistics can prevent patients in need of care from participating. The client tasked Gray and his team with coordinating visas, travel, translation services and housing for patients across 18 countries. Gray successfully supported his first clinical trial in 2014 and officially launched Clincierge in 1994.

Clincierge has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list, ranking among the fastest-growing privately owned companies in the United States for the last two consecutive years. Clincierge has also been recognized among the Best Places to Work by the Philadelphia Business Journal three times and has consistently ranked as the top Largest LGBT-owned business in Philadelphia by the Philadelphia Business Journal since 2016.

Gray was previously head of Gray Consulting International, which was named among the Top 25 Full-Service Event Management Companies in North America six times.

Gray serves as co-chairman on the board of governors for Valley Youth House. The organization provides counseling and housing to vulnerable, abused, homeless and at-risk youth, many from the LGBTQ community. Clincierge sponsors many programs for Valley Youth House, including the Valley Youth House Southeast Golf Tournament and Casino Nights, and regularly donates refurbished company laptops to its residents.

Gray regularly encourages employees to nominate organizations to be recipients of the Corporate Social Responsibility program. As CEO, Gray leads by example and actively supports and advocates for nonprofit groups benefiting HIV/AIDS awareness, homelessness and underprivileged youth.

“The primary motivator for me remaining an influential leader is to be able to help other entrepreneurs and business leaders become more successful,” Gray said. “As I’ve always done, I will continue to mentor other business owners, entrepreneurs, by sharing my experiences; what were the challenges encountered over 28 years in business and what was done to overcome?”

Scott is also involved with philanthropic organizations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida–a spot he considers his second home. For the last 12 years, Scott has been an enthusiastic volunteer for The SMART Ride, earning the unofficial title of "The Ice Man” among riders and crew. Each year, Scott provides sideline support by delivering thousands of pounds of ice to water stations along the bike route, while SMART riders bicycle 165 miles from Miami to Key West to raise funds for AIDS-related service organizations throughout the state.
