Jeffrey Doucette

Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
Press Ganey Associates

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Founded: 1985
Industry: Healthcare

Dr. Jeffrey N. Doucette’s No. 1 leadership lesson is simple and straightforward, and he implements it in his role as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Press Ganey Associates.

The lesson? Listen.

“Most leaders think they are much better listeners than they actually are, and we all should be developing our abilities to truly listen and be present daily,” he said.

Press Ganey is a strategic business partner to more than 41,000 healthcare facilities, helping organizations transform the care experience, drive innovation and deliver sustainable improvement.

As Press Ganey’s chief nursing officer, Doucette is responsible for providing clinical guidance to clients and improving the patient and caregiver experience. He leads the company’s global expansion efforts, working with organizations around the world to improve work environments for nurses. Doucette has nearly 30 years of experience primarily in leadership and executive nursing roles.

Most recently, Doucette served as senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Jefferson Health, Doucette served as president of the Magnet Recognition Program and the Pathway to Excellence Program at the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Doucette is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow, a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. He also serves on the editorial advisory board for Nursing Management and The Journal of Nursing Administration.

“I am fortunate that I am in a role that has an international impact on my profession and will continue to remain engaged in this work, as well as several boards and professional organizations which influence the professional practice standards in nursing,” Doucette said.

Doucette appeared on The Ellen Show twice in 2020 as the chief nursing officer at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, with members of his nursing team dubbed “The Swab Squad.” The group was highlighted on the show after they generated significant social media buzz with a viral video of its members dancing to Ciara’s “Level Up” in the parking lot where they performed over 2,000 drive-through tests for the coronavirus.

“Jeff is one of the most recognized global thought leaders in nursing,” his team said. “Serving as an officer on the board of directors of the American Nurses Association, he helps guide that national conversation around nursing practice and policy at the state and national level. In addition to this advocacy work, he writes and speaks extensively throughout the world on topics of interest to nurses, nurse leaders and nurse educators.”
