Angela MacPhee

Managing Partner, Consulting
Baker Tilly

Location: Denver, CO
Founded: 1931
Industry: Consulting, Assurance, Accounting

Lead with vision. That’s the mantra by which Angela MacPhee operates in her role as managing partner, consulting, for Baker Tilly.

“You can have the sharpest team, a booming industry, and a business that runs like a well-oiled machine, but if your approach to leadership lacks vision, the life of your organization will fall flat,” MacPhee said.

“Craft a vision for your business, see it, make it as bold and big as your mind allows, and drive toward it in all that you do — the messages you share, the way you lead meetings, how you ‘show up’ for people at all levels. The leader with a vision sees the bigger picture and works to share that view with the entire organization.”

Baker Tilly is a top 10 advisory, tax and assurance firm dedicated to building lasting relationships with its clients, communities and each other. In MacPhee’s time at the company, the consulting service line has hit $1.2 billion in revenue across its seven unique practices. She has been able to sustain a healthy, profitable service line in the midst of unprecedented social and economic change.

Prior to Baker Tilly, MacPhee served as CEO of RGL Forensics, a financial investigations consultancy focusing on the insurance, legal, and corporate markets. In 2018, she spearheaded the merger between RGL and Baker Tilly, an effort that took immense personal and professional sacrifice to execute.

“For me, there is nothing more impactful than bringing people and resources together to work collectively toward something great,” she said. “That is the real work and ultimate goal of true leadership.”

MacPhee’s long-term goals include her consulting service line hitting $1 billion in revenue by 2025, a goal that “will take breaking the mold of how advisory firms have traditionally operated. It will also take unleashing and amplifying talent — Baker Tilly’s newly declared purpose,” her staff said.

MacPhee has been included in the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 ranking. She previously held a number of governance roles for for-profit organizations: the Global Board of Directors for the Association of Corporate Growth; the Association for Corporate Growth, Denver; the board of directors for CoBiz Financial; the board of directors for Colorado Business Bank; the board of directors for Radiometrics; the board of trustees for Warren Village Board of Trustees; the board of Metals Service Center Institute.

“Across all of her accomplishments, MacPhee is most proud of having successfully executed the merger between RGL Forensics and Baker Tilly, allowing her to seamlessly transition her passion and energies to a new company, Baker Tilly, which has since become her home,” Baker Tilly staff said.
